Every cable TV station now has a full line up of it’s own “original series.” Which is great for actors, because more are probably working that ever before. But what about all of the poor restaurants and clubs? Where are they getting their wait staff now?

Pretty soon everything is gonna be run by robots, or be self serve.

Although sad, you are probably correct Tom. I actually made my living waiting tables only 10 years ago. Things hit a rough spot, and that’s what paid my bills for a bit.

I’ve never waited tables but I had a similar experience. When we were first married I worked at GM but was laid off after only 6 months. A went back to the hospital kitchen where I previously worked part-time as a high school senior and washed pots and pans. Scraping burnt-on scrambled eggs off of big pans morning after morning for six months is a memory I’ll always “treasure.” If you ever need a pan washed, I’m your guy!

Ha, yeah, I have washed some dishes myself. Sometimes a man has to do what he has to do, though, right Tom?

That’s right, Wally. All honest work is honorable although society teaches otherwise.

Now, that’s something I could probably get on a roll about, Tom. You are so correct in saying that.

Right, Wally. We Christians would likely look down upon some carpenter/stone mason and His band of smelly, uneducated fisherman. Does not compute.

No, it does not. I can relate personally on this. I was a true white collar guy for years. I wore ties to work for years. Now, I am 100 percent blue collar. Many sort of looked at me sideways when I made this transition, as if I had gone backwards. Honestly, even my wife got sort of bent about it. But, it’s been the right thing, and at the time was the necessary thing.
