I found this little gem as I was exiting the church parking lot where I had been sitting doing some computer work
The world IS our mission field
or
Is it?
Matthew 28:19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

I’ve seen that on the exit doors in some churches and A-frame signs leading to the parking lot, but this looks like a sign in the parking lot??

Yeah no kidding! Other than where I am now, a Methodist church was the only place I was ever a member…about 30 years ago!

it was due to my playing church league basketball back in high school, at the Methodist church, that got me motivated to rally the nearly defunct EYC (Episcopal Youth Community) in my own church…with great success might I add—the Methodist were always great with the youth…but then again my parents sent me to a Presbyterian preschool and later threatened to send me to the Baptist Sunday school across the street because they felt the Episcopal Sunday School wasn’t teaching me anything about the Bible….I suppose I’m ground in Heinz 57 sauce!!!

Yes you are…and glad to hear people still think Baptist teach the Bible LOL. Some day I will write about my Methodist church experience…all maybe 2 years of it. I have the title already in draft, but can’t seem to collect my thoughts. It’s called, “Hey Church, Where Did You Go?”
Maybe I will soon…dunno.

As we leave the sanctuary at my church above the doors is a sign that says “you are now entering the mission field”.

Brother Wally, something very bad happened in Methodism just like the other mainline Protestant denominations. They forgot about the Gospel. Beginning in the late-1800s, young men who graduated from mainline seminaries had learned from their professors that the Bible was primarily fiction. My father-in-law, born in 1914, was raised in the Methodist church and his Bible that he carried around with him in Europe as a G.I. during WWII played a part in the conversion of my wife and I to Christ. But he never told his wife about the Gospel. He died young in 1961 and when his wife became very sick in 1983 we presented the Gospel to her and it was all new to her.

Sadly, that is true way too much. Most down this way are still pretty much on track, which is encouraging. I was actually a member of one as a kid. From the age of 13 until 14. I was confirmed and all…and left not having ever heard the Gospel.
It encourages me to see that, even when the larger body of a denomination may be wandering off, that pockets of truth remain.
