The Only Way to God

Acts 4:8-12

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved,” Acts 4:12.

The only way to God is through Jesus. Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection opened the door for all. Through His act of sacrifice, we have access to the Father. To have access to the Father, one must be saved. The sacrifice of Jesus, the love of the Father and the Holy Spirit’s conviction and teaching is an unbroken circle of love, grace and forgiveness bestowed upon all who believe.

Sadly, many people have a distortedly false view of the love of God and one’s eternal home after death. Their worldview is that everyone goes to Heaven after death except those they do not like. Every movie or rock star, every celebrity, business guru or politician goes to Heaven no matter how terrible he lived on earth. Sorry to burst this bubble, but unless a person has at some point in his life, believed that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died, was buried and resurrected on the third day, he will not be celebrating in Heaven.

REFLECTION: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16).

The Resurrection Was the Message of the Apostles

Acts 4.1 2.JPG

Acts 4:1-4

At any time, one can turn on much of “Christian” television and see many messages being taught. We can learn how to save our marriages, how to save our teenagers, how to be successful in our jobs and can even learn how to become healthy and wealthy. Friends, there is nothing wrong with reading God’s Word and applying it to every aspect of our lives; there is no doubt that God inspired the writing of His Word so that we might use it to live positive and joyous lives. All of the above things are great, but they are NOT the central theme or the core of the Gospel message. That core remains the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ!

In this same passage we learn that 5000 heard and were saved. They were not saved by self-help advice, marriage advice or how to raise a teenager advice. They certainly were not saved by advice on how to plant a seed and grow rich. They were saved by the preaching of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They were saved by the preaching of Jesus death for our sin, and our death to sin. They were saved by the preaching of Jesus’ burial in a grave three days, and our own burial and death to our old natures. They were saved by the preaching of the victory of Jesus over death, and our own victory through Him over death and new life in Him.
