It’s funny, J. I used to wear a suit to church, or at least a tie all the time. I’m so relaxed now I have been know to wear jeans on Sunday morning. The other sunday I wore jeans and a casual shirt that didn’t even need tucking in. My stepson, also my pastor was shocked, then gave me a hard time in jest, as when he was growing up he had to always wear at least khakis to church. Things change a lot eh?
They do indeed. It used to be that every man, and most of the boys, wore ties and suitcoats to church. Now ties are rarely seen. Even men who wear a tie to work five days a week don’t wear a tie on Sundays. J.
In our church, most of the people, including the 60 year old pastor, wear jeans to church. I am one of the few women who typically wears a dress or skirt. I was brought up that way. But I love seeing all the young kids in this college town coming to church and praising God. I don’t care how they are dressed, I love it when people are on fire for the Lord. The worship and praise time at church is my favorite, the highlight of my week. Hoodies and Hallelujahs! Yes!!
My wife hears me complain about the lack of nicer clothes on Sundays, but at least we get 1 or 2 hymns each week! I had missed the hymns in our last few churches.
Tough choice. I prefer hymns, but I’m not a morning person. š¦
My mother was super strict and legalistic about church clothes, with the result that all of us kids ended up hating Sundays. Even when we got home after church, I was not allowed to change into anything comfortable. I could change into school clothes, but never pants or shorts. Mom honestly believed that God cared deeply what I wore around the house on a Sunday, although she was never able to cite the place in the Bible where He addressed the subject. One Sunday I failed to change out of the skirt and sweater Iād been wearing in the afternoon and back into a mother-approved Sunday dress before going off to youth group and evening service, and my mom about had a conniption.

I used to wear a suit every Sunday, now I have been known to wear jeans. We still do all of our congregational singing from hymnbooks
