The Works of the Flesh
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God,” Galatians 5:19-21.
The Bible is absolutely clear on how one may judge for oneself whether he is being led by the flesh or by the Spirit. The flesh is always searching for ways to satisfy a ravenous appetite for sin. But, it cannot be satisfied. Sadly, every day, people are caught up in this downward spiral trying to find perfect happiness outside of Jesus. Following fleshly desires, in the end, always leads to unhappiness and emptiness. They are like an addict craving another fix, seeking the next high, the next thrill until they come to the realization that it is futile. There is no life outside of Jesus, only existence.
Stay away from the sensual debilitating works of the flesh. The works of the flesh lead to a path of destruction and death.
REFLECTION: “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death” (James 1:15).
