God’s Eternal Love
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord,” Romans 8:38, 39.
God’s love for His children is based on His eternal love for His only begotten Son and the Son’s permanent sacrifice for our souls. As long as God loves His Son, He loves us eternally with agape unconditional love, often translated charity. This supernatural energy, love, runs the universe and powers Christianity. “He hath made us accepted in the beloved” (Ephesians 1:6).
Statistics reveal that love in America is declining, forty percent of all first time marriages end in divorce because partners claim they stopped loving each other. “Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold” (Matthew 24:12). This phenomena peaked in the 1980s then began declining to thirty percent. The number one reason for the decline was infidelity. Another reason for the decline in divorces is many young adults are living together outside marriage. When one desires to walk out of the relationship, he feels free of any obligation.
God is eternal, therefore, His love is eternal. In Jeremiah 3, He told the nation of Israel He would divorce it for its spiritual infidelity with the idol gods of the Canaanites. However, He would take the nation of Israel back when it came to its senses and stopped worshiping rocks and tree stumps that could not help.
When my wife and I said “I do,” we agreed to the commitment, in sickness or in health, for richer or poorer, until death do us part.
THOUGHT: Let God use you as His way to love others with eternal love.
