Its poetry time again! Thanks, Deborah Ann
CHRISTian poetry ~ by deborah ann
Oh, if I could fly away,
I’d soar into my Savior’s arms
there I would find my quiet rest
and be safe from all that harms.
I would take off and reside,
under the shadow of His wings
I’d be free from all the strife
living in this world often brings.
Oh, if I could fly away,
like an eagle I’d mount and rise
and climb to where His peace
would calm my fearful cries.
I would go right up to Him,
lay my burdens at His feet
and with Jesus I would find
my everlasting retreat.
Oh, if I could fly away,
if I had wings like a dove
I’d soar right up to heaven
and rest in His eternal love.
I would climb so ever high,
till I found His stillness
I would dive into His calm
and sop up His quietness.
Oh, if I could fly away,

Do you remember the song, Wally, “The Wayward Wind?” It may have been before your time. lol This poem reminds me of when I was a kid. I used to go off by myself and sing that song. It was my dream song of escape – to be like the wind.

I do not, but I think I found it. Great lyric
The wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind
In a lonely shack by a railroad track
He spent his younger days
And I guess the sound of the outward-bound
Made him a slave to his wand’rin ways
And the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind
Oh I met him there in a border town
He vowed we’d never part
Though he tried his best to settle down
I’m now alone with a broken heart
And the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind
The next of kin to the wayward wind
