My comment on the post:
Twisting the truth is the very first argument Satan ever made and nothing has changed a bit. Our response has not changed either. Instead of just replying with a simple recitation of God’s Word in response, Eve ADDED to it. She went to some effort to modify it to make it seem more burdensome than it actually was. Again, not a thing is new today. Satan still tells that same lie, and we are still looking actively for reasons to disobey.
From the post:
We hear the serpent asking Eve the above question in the garden before the fall of man.
“Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’? (Genesis 3:1 NIV84).”
And we know how that conversation ended up, don’t we?!?
Now, my life experience has been that whatever proves effective for the enemy, he will keep doing until I cast it down as prescribed in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”
