Entering a New Time in Life
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest,” Joshua 1:8, 9.
I know a man who vows to lose sixty pounds of excess weight every year. He loses five and sometimes ten pounds before giving up. Yet, yearly he makes the same vow to himself and to God. He also has kinfolks who vow yearly to be nicer this year than they were last year; and yet, the sin nature, like gravity, wins almost every time. When a Christian gets saved, he cannot come before God bearing accomplishments and good deeds to trade for salvation. He has to come with an empty cup and brokenhearted because of his sin that put God’s only begotten on the cross. If one says, “God, I have nothing to offer; I am unworthy of so great a gift, but please forgive me and save my soul.” That man will rise up with his cup full and running over. He will be able to walk in newness of life as he faces the New Year ahead. He can live for Jesus, and his good deeds will be recorded in Heaven. When Jesus returns, He will bring His reward with Him for the deeds which Christians have done in the body. “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new” (Revelation 21:5).
THOUGHT: Be strong and of good courage this year.
Joshua 1:8, 9 is a great formula for success which
will bring prosperity and give you peace in your heart.
