The Holy Spirit Seals Believers

Ephesians 1:11-14

“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of
truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,” Ephesians 1:13.

When Jesus returned to Heaven, He did not leave His believers to fend for themselves. He left His Spirit behind with many jobs to do. Over the next few days, we will learn or review—whichever case may apply—about the Holy Spirit’s multiple purposes. Today, we will cover the Spirit’s job to seal every believer’s soul for eternity.

Every person is made up of three parts: mind, body and soul. When we trust Christ as Savior, our sins are forgiven and our soul is sealed. The body and mind which are of this world continue to give us a great deal of trouble! The soul of every believer is sealed, not with earthly hands or something that can be broken, but by the capable hands of the Holy Spirit. Keep in mind that the hands of the Holy Spirit are also the hands of Jesus and the Father (John 10:28, 29). This truth alone is worthy of joyful praise to the Father! However, there are more reasons to shout! No outrunning the devil, no daily penitence of works, no getting saved again and again is necessary on our part to keep our salvation because soul keeping is up to the Holy Spirit!

REFLECTION: “And I give unto them eternal life; and
they shall never perish, neither shall any man
pluck them out of my hand”—Jesus (John 10:28).
