1 Corinthians 6:20
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s
When we buy something, what does that mean for us? It means we own it, whatever thing it is that we have purchased. At the point we buy it, that thing and its future are wholly in our hands. We become free and entitled at that point to do with the purchased item whatever we want to do. We control the daily existence as well as the future for the purchased item.
Well, Jesus purchased us; our text says we were purchased with a price. What was the price? The Blood of Jesus Christ, of course, is the price that was paid. There was a price owed of course; we owed the payment for our sins. As we all know, the “wages of sin is death.” If we have repented and accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, then He paid it for us. But not only did He pay what we could not, but our verse indicates He also purchased ownership of us on behalf of God the Father. We have been purchased.
The rules do not change just because it is us that has been purchased. We are, if we are saved, His purchased items. He owns us. He is free at the point of our salvation to do whatever He wants to do with us. He controls our daily existence as well as our future.

Is that how we strive to live? Do we truly attempt to conduct our lives in the sense that we are doing what He wants us to do? Our devotional verse says we are to glorify Him with both our bodies and our spirits. Is that our daily goal, to glorify God in both of those ways? Or, is God just a sideline? Does He have complete ownership or just a Sunday rental?

Yes, so loving this meat Brother! We are purchased with a price, not of gold or silver, or dollars, nothing as simple as that. We were bought with the Holy life, and blood, of the Son of the Almighty God, Jesus Christ. WOW. Praise God!

Margaret, thanks for reading. Yep, He bought us fair and square, and we are His to do what HE wishes with. I am perfectly okay with that too, and it’s actually very comforting.

Good one, Wally! In our flesh, we still focus on our own selfish desires, but the Lord constantly exhorts us through the Word to put on the mind of Christ and understand who we are in Him. We hate to give up that “me focus” because we anticipate “losing out,” but then find how much better life is when we think about and conduct ourselves as the bond slaves/servants we are.

A lot of folks have a problem with the concept of being a servant or slave…I’m okay with it almost without exception, and even then the exceptions don’t last long.

Actually, it’s not. It is one I wrote very early in my blogging career, sort of tweaked and recycled.ed. My published one My published ones will start Monday the 29th. I have been remiss in posting the other writer’s lately. I have to go to the Bogard Press Facebook page and copy and paste them, and I keep getting busy and forgetting.

How certain are you of this belief? 100%?

Possibly. I like discussions on beliefs.
What is the most important thing that gives you so much confidence in your belief?

So Gary from what perspective do you ask? I mean no offense but it seems your questioning is straight from The Handbook of Street Epistemology. If so I am quite clear on the objectives of it. I really need no prodding to critically look at the source and reliability of my beliefs. I spent 45 years doing just that. Now if you have issued with my exegesis of the scripture I used feel free to chime in. Otherwise all you will get is preached at. Which I am more than glad to do.

Do you think it is important for people to use reliable methods of determining truth? If so, what method do you use to determine that your beliefs about Jesus are true? (If you are not interested in discussing this topic, no problem.)

Gary put your handbook away. Been there done that. How certain are you of your beliefs? That’s the importance question.

Which belief?
I don’t think I am 100% certain of anything. Ask me something specific and I will try to give you a more exact answer.

Gary. You spend much of your time studying your handbood, and then cruising Christian blogs to get Christians to think about why they believe as they do. I know, I know, you present like you are just doing the poor Christians a service. But, it’s a simply truth that you are just a more refined, by the book militan atheist. No problem, but I’m not interested. We all know your questions never end, and all I would be doing is providing you a place to evangelize.
If you have issuse with the exegisis I have provided in this post, feel free to add your Biblically based concerns. Otherwise? Pass. I am 56 years old and probably don’t have enough years left to answer you endless question.
But, peace, though.

By the way, Wally. Street epistemology is not a new invention. It is simply the Socratic method applied to any belief. SE can be used with atheists who believe that one can KNOW that God does not exist to reveal the error in this logic.
Peace.
