Matthew 4:18-22
Any believer should want to know and execute God’s will for their lives. If you are patiently waiting for God to reveal that will, then I have good news for you. He already has. While God has a specific will for each of us, He also has some things for every saved child of His. We cannot just sit around waiting for that specific will when He has clearly given guidance applicable to us all. If we are not willing to do the clear things revealed to us all in God’s Word, why would our Father reveal more? If we will not do the smallest of things, why would He give us the big ones?
We have talked much about the “follow me” part of this; God has gotten specific here, just for us. He wants each and every one of us to be “fishers of men.” This is, as our title today states, the job Jesus wants us to do. This is the primary purpose of every single saved child of God. Anything else we do in God’s service is a supporting role for the primary mission, which is the spread of the Gospel to a lost and dying world.
We are not all the same, and will not do this job in the same way. Some will still fish, simply presenting good bait and waiting. Some will ride the raging rapids in search of the more difficult catch. It is clear, however, that we are all to be fishing.

Amen, Wally! Well said. I like what you said about, “If we will not do the smallest of things, why would He give us the big ones?”
We have a good God who actually tells us to go fishing! I’m chuckling here, but I think He means it just like that, my burden is light, go have some fun. Recently a pastor said, “loving people is Christian recreation.” I kind of liked that.

Thanks IB I appreciate that. I do see people just sitting around sometimes not doing anything because they say God hasn’t called them to do anything but yet they ignore the things we’ve all been told to do. I love that quote by the way it ought to seem like Recreation to us

One of my best high school friends, upon completion of his military career, has been going on three or four short-term mission trips every year, mostly to Siberia, Israel, and Africa providing glasses to the lost and witnessing as much as he can. He always ends his letters to supporters and friends with the phrase: “Another seed(s) planted.”

That’s awesome. That’s all we do though is plant. God will provide the harvest. That’s hard sometimes as it can be discouraging when we don’t see results

Its a time of serious mourning over lost souls for pray-er warriors. May God bless His weeping saints with the harvest joy that His sent laborers have when they see God work in the hearts of people unto salvation, amen!

Sherry that was just wonderful thank you, maybe if we were weeping and actually sad over lost souls we would see more come to Salvation, well said sister

Amen! Nothing to be added here, Wally. You’ve said it wonderfully well. Now we all just need to get to work. 🙂 God bless you greatly!
