BELONGING

When people ask me “what Church do you go to?” I make a point of replying “I belong to Jordan Victory Church”. That might sound a bit pernickety but there’s a vast difference between attending and belonging to a church.

If we’re merely attending, we’re in danger of developing a type of consumerism approach to the church. I often hear people say things like:

* “I left my last Church because I just wasn’t being fed.”

* “My needs weren’t being met”

* “I didn’t like the way things were being run”

And I wonder, did it ever occur to them to stay and be part of the solution? Because it’s really only when you take ownership of something that you’ll actually have any influence.

Church was not a human invention, it was birthed in the very heart of God.
