Hi All. Well I got my outlines in for my upcoming Devotional writing assignment! They send the outlines to the actual lesson writer, the writers for the commentary, and the Daily Devotional writers. We get the lesson outlines and the chosen devotional Scriptures, and off we go!
I have 8 weeks to turn in my manuscripts, and they will actually not publish until the Fall Quarter of 2018. I guess putting together lesson curricula is a long term sort of thing. So, I have 8 weeks to prepare 28 devotionals. It’s a semi large project, because in 28 days a lot of Scripture is covered, so much reading and studying to do before I even begin.
So, I’m going to dive into that pretty full force for a few weeks, and my posting will be semi random. If something just pops in my head as I study, I will chuck it on here. Maybe it won’t be as random as I think. Mostly I am going to release myself from the standing obligation to post things 4 times a day; I may very well still do it, but I am going to release myself from the pressure I feel to do so.
Finally, I am going to reorganize a bit a work and get myself to the point where I only leave home 5 days a week. I’ll still be on call, but not going anywhere makes a huge time difference.
Mostly, I am just staying loose and seeing what God unfolds here.

Thanks James! I am excited and nervous as well. And I really don’t think there will be much affect overall on my blogging. Reorganizing and making things fit is actually a thing for me. There is very little that discipline and organization won’t fix!

Best of luck Wally as you embrace what God unfolds for you! Good for you too to take the pressure off yourself on blogging. I suspect though you’ll find new inspiration as you dig deeper in to this.

Hi Tricia. I think you may be correct; it may make blogging easier in some ways. I did want to do just that you said, just sort of take the pressure off myself. If it becomes a chore instead of a pleasure, then it’s time to move on.

God has great plans to use your gifts in his service. Will miss you, but I’m glad you’re choosing priorities. Absence will make us more appreciative of the posts from you.

Well I’m really falling of necessarily just mentally letting go of the compulsion to post all of the time. I am getting a feeling that this may actually spur my thinking
I was just studying the lessons for this Sunday and about 3 post ideas popped into my head.
I’m also going to do all I can to not leave home on Wednesdays. If I get that one day a week then I can make it all work.

Wally, I obviously missed an earlier post while driving cross-country where you explained what you are doing. Sounds monumental. I don’t know how any one (especially with a full-time job) could post daily; let alone 3-4 times a day. Don

Yes you did Don! I was selected to be one of the 4 writers for the Daily Devotional Quarterly for the Sunday School Committed for the American Baptist Association. Each of us writes a month of the dailies for the Quarterly. The quarterly are distributed to around 1600 churches as part of our educational literature. It’s a real blessing and honor! Once I get moving, it won’t be too big, my turn this time is 4 weeks, or 28 devotionals. But getting my routine back with additions may be a challenge. I have already got a plan in place, though LOL.

Well, as I said, they won’t actually print for almost a year! Wow, who knew that, right? I guess mass literature is a slow process. So, we will see. Hopefully, this won’t actually disrupt me, as I love my blogging and my brothers and sisters who do!
