Great point, Wally. I have seen people hauled of for some pretty horrific crimes, while still protesting, “but I am a good person!” It used to puzzle me, but I now understand our mindset better. As people often we really do believe we can tip that scale in our favor. Our prisons are full of good people, and they really are good people, they really were like good some 95% of the time. I like to say, “God is not grading on a scale.” Our only Advocate is the blood of Christ because, “there are none righteous, not one.”

You are so correct IB. God’s grade book so to speak, does not have a scale. It is pass or fail, and Jesus is the only one ever to have passed the test. It’s something that has come up time and time again during this week, and I have found it quite distressing. Many are walking around professing faith, yet are still striving to save themselves, or living in fear that they will be snatched away.

“Many are walking around professing faith, yet are still striving to save themselves, or living in fear that they will be snatched away.”
Sad, Wally. I too find a lot of people like that.
What helps me to understand is, “who the Lord loves, He chastens,” so a much beloved daughter here, who has felt that “love” many times.
God does not make an investment in us,only to change His mind later. Once He has us, we are His, bought and paid for. He already knows what He is getting into. We are not having an audition, these are not try outs to see if we’re qualified. We already know we are not, and so our Salvation is totally in His hands. His hands, not ours.

“We are not having an audition.”
How perfect. Oh, how I wish some people I have been in prayer for would read this comment chain.
Keep on preaching, IB.

How much we need the righteousness that comes from trusting in Christ as our Lord and Savior!

Yessir, and I fear there are many sitting in churches week after week not really getting it.
