Well I of course love my Charismatic brethren. But….no babies in that guys bath water.
In general principle I agree us non charismatic folks do sometimes throw the baby out with the bath water. But…not in this case.

I’ve heard him says stuff that urks me, and i’m not a huge fan of his style, but I know, if you get past the showmanship – there is a real connection with Christ in this man. I try to be really careful about taking what i see on the surface on condemning – having been at the receiving end of that stick a few times in my life.

I’m sure you’ve got your reasons for distrusting him, but I would council that judgment belongs to the Lord, so tread with caution.
I had the same opinion about others like Joel Osteen (I know he’s one of your favorite targets) until I learned some of what goes on behind the scenes. I don’t have to like him, but i do consider both of these men my brothers in Christ.
That may of course taint your opinion of me, but so be it. I only share this with you because I don’t want you to be hurt by your own words.

First, thanks for your concern, and I mean that. You are correct in one thing, that being that I don’t know and have no place judging the state of another’s heart or relationship with Jesus Christ. You may also be correct in that both of those men are my brother.
On the other hand, I can and should evaluate even a brother on the words they say. Especially if they are claiming to be preachers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Both of these men make that claim, yet the focus of their entire work is not the Gospel of salvation, but getting healed, and getting “our best life now.” While both of those things may be valid quests, they are not the most important issue facing us; the state of our eternity is. These men and their ministries do not have that as the focus, yet they speak to tens of thousands.
FYI…you aren’t tainted in my mind, I promise.

I had in the past spoken against both of these preachers, but have heard testimonies of people close to them that made me reconsider. I’ve heard from someone in the Osteen camp that what goes on in person is way more than what get’s broadcast, and that many folks get saved in every meeting – to the tune of thousands over the years. Is that authentic – is it self seeking people? is it folks who just came to get healed – maybe, but many came to Christ in his ministry for healing and ended up encountering the kingdom of God.
I, at the point of realizing that i don’t have any real first hand knowledge of his ministry decided to shut up, rather than keep wailing around with a plank in my eye. – but that’s me.

Hi Wally, Thanks for asking – i’m not NOT posting, I just got myself out of the routine. Kind of stepping back, but fully intend to get back in soon.
