christian quotes, quotes

Oh, fabulous Wally! Don’t follow satan! What did Christ do the moment he stepped into that boat and the storm was raging all around? Take a nap!
We’re called to rest in the Lord, to be still and know that I am, to walk in faith and not faith in our own ability to save the day. Apart from Him we can do nothing. That can be a tough lesson, but it’s true.

Jesus took a nap…so do ye likewise. I believe that is in the Bible somewhere. 🙂

I’ll go with that!

Only mildly out of context….but I still love my naptimes.

Ah, that was really great IB; you really captured the essence of what was in my heart there. Of of the devil’s best tools it to keep us busy…in many ways.

I love one of the Amplified Bible’s comments: “God’s will, nothing more, nothing less, nothing else, at all costs.” And someone else said, “God gives me just enough time to get done what he wants done in a day.” Thanks for this!!

That’s a really good quote, Dawn, and I think it’s perfect. God does indeed give us plenty of time….to get done what He wants done. If we make poor choices to try to do more, then shame on us right?

Amen! Blessings! 🙂

Wally, many years ago I fell into this trap preached from the pulpit of our old church. I was so busy for God that I didn’t have time to pay attention to my relationship with Him.

Exactly, Tom, exactly. I just had a situation where I was feeling sort of pressurized to take on some additional work, specifically helping out with the bus ministry. I do that during VBS, but it’s only a week. The need was real, but just too much for me to really agree to. So, I said …nope. Honestly, it was a great relief. At first I felt bad, but now I understand it was okay.

I hear you, Wally. My wife and I were asked to do something recently. We went to the Lord but we did not have any positive assurance about it although I wanted to say yes in the flesh because it’s kind of a showy responsibility. Just confessin’ to a brother!

I can understand that. In this case I really wanted no part of it so had to make sure it wasn’t just me avoiding something I didn’t want to do. My turn to confess

Sometimes resting in Him is great demonstration of faith
May 31, 2017 at 12:28
That is probably a great demonstration of faith! Reliance on Him instead of us! Thanks bro Jim.

I felt I really had to learn that lesson the last few years with ministry

Yes, you do seem to have a tendency to be very, very busy.

Well, it’s certainly true for me! You have a blessed one as well!
