christian quotes, quotes

God constantly reminds me that immediate conviction over current sin is from Him, guilt over past sin ‘that has been confessed and repented of’ is from the enemy…he tries to bring us down and back to the pit the Lord drug us out of. If the enemy can keep us down, we are rendered useless for the cause of Christ. In Christ, my past may explain me, but it does not define me. Jesus Christ defines me… who I am and what my purpose is in Him… and so it is with you, as I’m sure you know! Thank you for the thought-provoking post! Blessings to you today in Jesus Name!

What a great comment that was. Funny..God has told us He no longer remembers our sin; I wonder why we have so much trouble forgetting it ourselves. But, you just told us why; it’s that same old adversary Satan busy at work. Great addition here, thanks much.

Amen! Even better Wally, He can use some of those old defects and transform them into genuine strengths and treasures.
I often think of Peter and the Lord saying, hmmm now where am I going to get a rock upon which to build my church? I think I’ll take the bold and blustery fisherman, the one lacking self-awareness and likely to just lop off a man’s ear….
You know, if I ever get to heaven, Peter is likely to hunt me down and demand an explanation for all these things I’v be said about him over the years…… 🙂

What a great point IB. Look how Peter channeled all of his boldness during hid preaching on the day of Pentecost! Great comment, thanks

IB, the rock on which Christ built His Church isn’t Peter but Himself and the God-given testimony about Him. As Peter wrote, here:
1 Peter 2:7-9
7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient,
“The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone,”
“A stone of stumbling
And a rock of offense.”
And Paul helped to explain here:
1 Corinthians 10:3-4
3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

Hi Maria….I agree with that, and thanks for tossing it in there.

And that is the hope of God’s Gospel and transforming Grace!
