The verse you used sounds like what I wrote about Saul kicking the goad. Saul persecuting believers who knew the truth.

Good point. You know, our response to the non believing world, or even those in error, is very important.

It sure is

Wise words, wally. That gentle part is always so hard. Also, we’re not just talking about non believers here 🙂

No, sometimes we kill our own wounded don’t we IB?

“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matt 5:11- 12

The key there is..on my account. If we encounter trouble just because we are jerks, then too bad so sad for us.

The correct response, is to rejoice.

True that! I have more thought coming on the other comment!

Always reminded to rejoice….
a grin and bear it every time!
Those of us who tend to be knee jerk in our responses need such constant reminding…Paul’s words and not Peter’s as I tend to be a bit (maybe a lot)
more headstrong like Peter—
he finally came around and I’m still working on it 🙂
Thank you Wally

Thank you Julie…and just remember…my thoughts often flow from my own prior conviction on the matter at hand.
Those knee jerk reactions are usually wrong everytime.

I know all too well—you ought to see these bruised knees of mine 🙂

Amen, I definitely need prayer and patience in this area! We have to be careful to not offend them even if they might persecute and say what they think about “Christianity”

Perhaps in those moments, it might be wise to consider whether our response is about to be in the spirit, or in the flesh.

You’re very welcome Brother Wally

Amen brother! Our job is not to convert people but to usher them lovingly to Jesus. God bless you!

Amen. I try very hard to make sure its not my own sinfulness that makes them offended, let it be if they are offended it is God and not our own sinfulness!
