For billions of years there was
NOTHING
Then, suddendly:
and this:
Which ended up being
This all just sat there for some few billion more years looking something like this
and this
Which all just sat there for millions of more years until by random chance and happenstance, some carbons and other stuff managed to meet up with some OTHER carbons and stuff, transformed themselves into some proteins and stuff and VOILA!
LIFE!
Several millions more years of random chance and reorganization led things from that to this
and ultimately, this
One day that became this!
and this
How you say, did all of this happen? Well, it’s easy really. At the exact same time all of the carbons and stuff were becoming proteins and stuff and grass something else had happened. Some of the minerals and ores from the rock had met up with some of the sticks that fell from the trees that randomly by chance developed at the same time. They all turned into this
Which then cut all of the hay down to then be swept into piles by this(which had also concurrently fallen together from the minerals, sticks and stuff
Is everybody still with me here? Because the story is not done yet.!
Because then the minerals and sticks and stuff really got busy and change began to happen fast!
Meanwhile, the hay itself was causing itself to progress in new and improved directions in it’s random unplanned effort to become simply the best hay it could become.
Like the machines, however the hay was far from done improving itself!
The hay, in a never ending random effort to improve itself, had yet more in store. One eon, all the hay bales managed to get themselves into here. Incidentally, the round bales are what we now call a transitional species. Nobody has ever seen a square bale grow and become round, but clearly that is what happened.
Where they just sat…and sat….and sat. For years and years and years. But things were happening because one day after the hay bales randomly reorganized until they found a way that worked………… out popped this!

Of course it is.
I was speaking with an atheist years ago who told me if he walked into his kitchen and saw a cake on the counter, he would not automatically leap to the conclusion that someone must have made it and put it there. Not kidding, he said there are other possibilities.
Silly for sure but that’s the path one walks down when they absolutely reject a creator.

Well a few years back a friend told me that it is theoretically possible that his DVD player had, in fact, randomly formed over time from the loose hardware in a drawer. That made sense to me and led me to this conclusion of how the Hay Monster came to be as well.

Just wait til the godless mind excuses the implications and denies the fact, that intelligence is not found under a non thinking rock, and does not transmit life or understanding to a non thinking pile of goo or poo or dew.
Ever heard the crap that believers should be kept from children??????????? Yeah, this tale makes much more sense than the obvious: in the beginning God………………
But some will cry ‘HEY………..no fair……..we don’t believe this………’
Yeah, ok, uh huh, sure. good stuff Wally.

Yeah w, and a greater implication is HOW the Creator can redeem they who say He does not exist.
Redemption? Now that’s the miracle. Creation? Eh, so easy a caveman can understand.

Hey friend, why were you in my trash bin? I don’t know, either, but I fished you out.
Cavemen can certainly understand it, creation that is. Some apparently know TOO much.
Redeeming those, the offer of it, to those who say He doesn’t exist. That’s pretty amazing to me. I could not be so kind. Guess that’s why it’s good He is God and not me.

Now, you remember our conversation a while back about the Hay monster I hope, because it was that casual comment that made me realize and think about how that fellow came to be, and just a little wiki and google, and the facts became very clear.

Instead of a strawman fallacy, I guess this would be a hay-man fallacy.
I have to admit, though, I laughed. Funny take–even if I don’t agree.

I have admit that the tale is a clever one and the hay monster is a cutie, but this tale and most of the comments show a real lack of understanding of the subject.
On the bright side, now I know how you feel when you see a comment, and you think…this commenter knows nothing about Christianity!

Hey David
That’s an interesting thought you have made there. Perhaps you are on to something.
I’ll be the first to tell you I don’t profess in depth understanding of all of the various thoughts and ideas concerning what supports evolutionary thought. I don’t pretend to, and accordingly I don’t debate them.
I can say this with much certainty. Even if a person accepts the evolutionary model(and I don’t, obviously) the number of unanswered questions regarding many things…notably the whole topic of origins…make it far from a proven subject. Much evidence? Sure.
But enough unanswered questions that I have no problem accepting the Biblical account of origins.
Am I going to convince you? Nah…of course not. Are you going to convince me? Nah.
Does this mean I came to my conclusions because I have failed to look intelligently at available information? Nah.
Bottom line for both of us is our worldview and presuppositions. I am comfortable with mine and freely own up to them.
Good input there, though, thanks.

Of course there are still questions in evolutionary biology. It’s science, and there are always questions in science. Now, whether or not the actual questions support or justify a relatively uninformed “hay man” argument is yet another question. However, major points are to be awarded for creativity. As they say, don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story.
Here’s one way to look at it. You know the old cliche about democracy…it’s the worst form of government, except for all the others? Well, maybe that’s evolutionary theory. Even at its “silliest,” it’s “out-sillied” by the other ideas about the origin of species, in some cases by a country mile.
Young Earth? Global Flood? Kinda silly.
It’s fair to say that we aren’t going to change each other’s minds, and we all have our worldviews. But introducing “worldview” into the conversations just reminds everyone that no one can know anything and all “truths” are relative.

Thanks I appreciate that. Yes. it’s quite possible I have not written this with full knowledge of the science involved and taken some literary liberties. I think it raises some real and some legitimate questions.
On the flip side, I think there are many instances where my faith is likewise presented in ways that don’t actually reflect what it really is.
It would be interesting to see if at some point, engagements could be made without people pulling their metaphorical guns on each other.
Just a thought

Wally, it’s good to see your comments in my inbox again. I’m not sure how I ended up falling off everyone’s radar screens, but I am working hard at keeping up with everyone and making sure there are fresh posts worth your time. School has been occupying a lot of my day, along with the library job, church, and going for walks. We just moved mom out of the house she and dad shared for 17 years after his retirement and before he passed away in 2014. I’m staying with a friend until I move in to my new apartment July 9th. By the way, have you noticed the fresh new look of my blog site?
As for your post, I love the hay monster analogy. I thought about Intelligent Design and Ben Stein’s film “Expelled.” I haven’t seen God’s Not Dead 2 yet. The second film tells the story of a high school teacher coming under fire for daring to mention the words of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount in her classroom.

Mom sold the house. Plus, the Lord has put it on my heart that it’s time for me to act like a grown-up and support myself. Stick to a budget. Stop caving in to childish whims and wishes. This is all part of my journey. My “dessert” in preparation for service. For counseling others in the grace and the freedom of Christ. I’m feeling pretty purposeful.

My brother, please keep me on your prayer list. This is going to be a challenging adjustment. I’m not worried about being alone. I need this time to study, plan, read, relax, and to improve my conscious contact with the Lord. I just want to remain focused on what’s important. Stick to my budget. Fulfill God’s purpose for me. Forgive those who have rode me hard while in relapse mode last year. Family who say, “I don’t believe a word he says anymore.” I don’t want to be self-righteous or angry or resentful. This truly feels like I am heading in the right direction and growing stronger in the Lord, but I expect Satan has some attacks and temptations in mind. My fibromyalgia pain is off the charts, and I am having significant low back pain. I know stress and all this increased physical strain while moving has aggravated it. Just keep me in mind when you are interceding for fellow believers. Thank you my friend.
